Dr. Ken Meyer is a Research Ecologist and co-founder and Executive Director of the Avian Research and Conservation Institute. Their mission is to conduct research on rare and imperiled birds and its implication for bird conservation.

Lifers for Less: A Busy Mom's Guide to a Big Year

This humorous but informative talk will help all who seek more life birds and year birds. Birders can benefit from this Busy Mom who has had to develop highly effective strategies to find birds with less time and less money. Learn how ebird, checklists, use of internet, books, birding festivals, and birding by season and habitat can increase your chances of finding target birds.
Paddy Cunningham is the Owner of Birding Adventures, a small ecotourism business that takes Birders throughout Florida and the Caribbean. She is also the Coordinator of the Everglades Birding Festival its' 10th year and the NEW Birding Festival of the Keys. She specializes in teaching birders how to bird through a series of classes, festivals, speaking engagements and private guiding.

What can ebird do for You?

It is amazing how much ebird has changed the world of Birding. Learn the basics of ebird such as hot spots, explore data, bar charts, life lists and year birds. Also learn some of the more advanced functions such as ebird alerts, historic data entry and more. This talk will also will include an interactive discussion where birders can ask questions, have their problems solved and get tips from one of Florida's Premier Listers, David Simpson. Light refreshments will be served.
